What is the IB Programme?
It is a rigorous, balanced program that provides excellent preparation for higher education and adult life, which is widely recognized among the world’s leading universities.
Currently at Wenlock School the Diploma Program is taught, it lasts for two years and is aimed at students in grades III and IV.
This program is complemented by the Plans and National Study Programs (Mineduc) which make up the III and IV Middle school curriculum. The subjects or subsectors of the National Plan are mandatory for all students.
IB Statement of Principles
The International Baccalaureate aims to train young people in solidarity, informed and eager for knowledge, capable of contributing to create a better and more peaceful world, within the framework of mutual understanding and intercultural respect.
In pursuit of this goal, the organization collaborates with school establishments, governments, and international organizations to create and develop international education demanding programs and rigorous assessment methods.
These programs encourage students around the world to be active in lifelong learning, to be compassionate, and to understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The Diploma Programme
The core components of the Diploma Program
- Extended Essay, students carry out independent research through in-depth study of a topic related to one of the Diploma Program subjects they are studying. The Contemporary World Studies thematic option allows students to focus their essay on a topic of global relevance from the perspective of at least two Diploma Program subjects.
- Theory of Knowledge (TOK) develops a coherent way of approaching learning that unifies the different academic areas. In this course on critical thinking, students investigate the nature of knowledge and deepen their understanding of knowledge as a human construction
